For Adam Traum it is about doing right by the song!
Adam Traum is a compelling story teller who wraps his catchy hooks with infectious grooves. The recent material Adam has been writing evokes images of the Americana landscape spinning tales of heartbreak, beauty, joy, and love in a myriad of cohesive styles. His latest album "Legacy," released in late 2020, celebrates his family's musical roots, while proudly carrying on the family tradition.
Adam cross-pollinates Americana genres, blending folk, bluegrass, outlaw singer-songwriters, country blues, and a touch of jazz in his diverse songwriting and cover arrangements. When he performs live Adam brings his passion for music to the stage with a well-polished show, tasty instrumental chops and a relaxed but powerful voice to match.
Growing up in Woodstock, New York, Traum had a front row seat to music history. He formed his love of music watching modern roots/rock pioneers like The Band, John Sebastian and many others play their well crafted, soulfully performed songs. At the same time Adam was raiding his father's (Happy Traum) ample record collection listening to masters of blues, country and folk for hours and doing his best to play along. After playing in several full on rock bands, Traum found the truth, beauty and honesty in the roots music he was raised around. His commitment to excellence in songwriting and musicianship translates to both his recorded and live performances.
He also has several popular videos on Homespun Music Instruction.
It's hard to believe we are already in August, but here we are!
Adam Traum has been busy cutting together a brand new Homespun lesson that should be out by September. Look for more on that very soon.
Adam is continuing to track with Wolf Run, his band with Jack Hines (bass) and Kendrick Freeman (drums), for a 2022 release of their first CD as a band. They have started mixing what promises to be a terrific new album with mostly original material.
Legacy has been getting some great press for this effort including a story in the North Bay Bohemian and it's sister paper, The Pacific Sun. You can read the article here. The Sonoma Index Tribune's Tim Curley also did a nice story you can find here. There is also an album review coming out in Acoustic Guitar for the July/August issue, which comes out in May.
"Legacy" is available on Spotify and other streaming services and is available for purchase at Bandcamp now and the physical copies are available at adamtraumguitar.com and on CD Baby. This is Adam's most personal collection of songs to date where the tracks range from serious to lighthearted. He highlights some killer guest performances from Happy Traum, David Thom, Jack Hines, and Josh Yenne.
Among the tracks for the full CD is "Ash on the Windshield" (the video link can be found below), a song about fires on the West Coast. Adam wrote the song as a gift for his wife on their anniversary and there is a link to F.I.S.H. (Friends in Sonoma Helping) where you can donate to a great local cause that helps many Sonomans in need!
Keep checking back for more updates. There are plans in the works for more blogs and podcasts!
